Let’s get you started with setup! This is the first step of the short setup process, where you choose what membership types you want to have on your site.
Member Plugin Pro allows you to run your memberships directly, through Patreon or both at the same time. You can choose either option.
“Direct memberships” option works through your website, by your visitors/followers signing up at your website and paying you directly to become members and unlock your content. It establishes a direct relationship between you and your members.
“Patreon” option works by connecting your site to Patreon, and having your Patreon patrons unlock content at your website through Patreon.
“Both“ option allows both of the membership types to work at your website at the same time, allowing both direct members and Patreon patrons to easily use your site.
Which Option Should You Choose?
It’s actually very simple:
If you don’t have Patreon or don’t plan on using Patreon with your site, just choose ‘Direct’. This is the membership type that is used by millions of WordPress membership sites on the Internet. When in doubt, choose this option.
If you have Patreon and want to establish a more direct relationships with your patrons, increase your membership & revenue, allow those who don’t have Patreon to become your members or have more control over your content without algorithms, choose both.
If you have only Patreon and don’t want to establish direct membership relationships with your patrons, choose Patreon.
